Black and white squares with a hint of circles

Since I am new to programs that handle web design and am now using a Mac, I really just tried to explore what it is possible in the world of visual journalism. This image features shapes that are only black or white. None of these shapes are arranged in any particular order. I just wanted to create a random page of shapes. Through this exercise, I discovered that you can design many different, irregular shapes that each has a unique color and shade to them. In my design, I included just a few circles to go along with my other shapes. After sketching the design on paper, I believe that it looks better on the computer. Overall, it was fun to experiment with the program and I am looking forward to working on it more.

  1. This black and white design is great. The large black polygon, outlined in gray, carries a ton of weight as it almost teeters over to the side of the page. The many shapes are unique, but it creates confusion in the piece. There is also too much blank space at the top of the design.
