The differences between warm and cool colors

We have moved on to color for my second project in Visual Journalism. These images show the differences of warm and cool colors.

In my first design, I wanted to really bring out the warm colors of the spectrum. I wanted the design to be as bright and vibrant as possible. I tried to make my colors stand out and to make some shapes stand out more than others.

In the second design, I went the opposite way and showed the cool colors of the spectrum. This design is much darker than the first entry and really showed how different shades of colors can look. This design was not made to stand out, but to show how dark, cool shades of color go together.

Black and white squares with a hint of circles

Since I am new to programs that handle web design and am now using a Mac, I really just tried to explore what it is possible in the world of visual journalism. This image features shapes that are only black or white. None of these shapes are arranged in any particular order. I just wanted to create a random page of shapes. Through this exercise, I discovered that you can design many different, irregular shapes that each has a unique color and shade to them. In my design, I included just a few circles to go along with my other shapes. After sketching the design on paper, I believe that it looks better on the computer. Overall, it was fun to experiment with the program and I am looking forward to working on it more.
